Onion Soup Mix Meatloaf is brimming with delicious flavor from a homemade onion soup mix, chili sauce and flavored breadcrumbs. Glazed with chili sauce, every bite of this homemade meatloaf will delight your tastebuds.
Onion Soup Mix Meatloaf
There’s no denying that a flavorful meatloaf is true comfort food. Dry onion soup mix, the secret ingredient that adds a wonderful onion flavor, combines with a sweet chili sauce glaze making Onion Soup Mix Meatloaf both delicious and so easy to make.
With just a few ingredients you’ll have this tasty homemade meatloaf on the table in about an hour.
I used my homemade onion soup mix but you can easily use an envelope of store bought Lipton onion soup mix.
Sweet chili sauce is stirred into the meat loaf and also brushed over the top to form a delicious glaze.
Ketchup can be used instead of chili sauce and your meatloaf will still be absolutely delicious.
The beauty of making a meatloaf is that you can put the ingredients together earlier in the day or even the night before, shape the meatloaf, cover, and refrigerate it until you are ready to preheat the oven. Then just take the uncooked meatloaf out of the refrigerator while your oven is preheating so that it has a chance to come to room temperature and then bake it.
Another idea for busy weeknights is to combine the uncooked ingredients, place them in a freezer safe bag, flatten the bag (to save freezer space) and freeze.
When you want meatloaf for dinner, simply transfer the frozen mixture in the bag to the refrigerator the night before and let it thaw overnight. Remove the meat mixture from the bag, shape into a meatloaf shape and bake and it’s a make ahead dinner!
Meatloaf and mashed potatoes go hand in hand along with roasted carrots, brussels sprouts or green beans. Now that’s a true comfort food dinner for sure!
Oh, and if you happen to have any leftovers, there’s nothing quite like meatloaf sandwiches for lunch the next day!
