James McGuinness, of East Weymouth, passed away after a long illness on May 21, 2022 at the age of 78. He was the son of the late Mary (Evaska) and James McGuinness.
James was born and raised in Quincy and graduated from the Archbishop Williams High School. He then went on to attend Northeastern University. James worked a lengthy career of over 35 years at New England Telephone Company and Verizon.
James had a great sense of humor and an unforgettable laugh. He also had a love for collecting stamps and coins. He enjoyed all types of music from Fleetwood Mac to Adele and Shakira. James was a dedicated member of the Weymouth Eagles for many, many years.
James was the father of Kristen McGuinness of Pembroke, Andrew McGuinness of Rockland, and Matthew McGuinness of Holliston. Grandfather of Ryan Manning of Gloucester, Nicole Manning of Arlington, Rey McGuinness of Brimfield, and Gavin McGuinness of Brimfield. Brother of Martha Lutz of McLain, VA and Mark McGuinness of Scituate.
A visitation will take place from 10:00AM-11:00AM on Friday June 3rd at Sullivan Funeral Home in Hanover, 551 Washington Street, Rt. 53. A private burial for family members will take place immediately following at Mt. Wollaston Cemetery in Quincy, 20 Sea Street.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alagille Syndrome Alliance or the NVNA and Hospice - Pat Roche Hospice Home. The McGuinness family wants to give a very special thank you to all of the employees at the Pat Roche Hospice Home for their dedication and hard work.
